China’s Foton Tunland V9 truck to be assembled in Mutare, Zimbabwe

China’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Ding Zhou, expects locally assembled Foton Tunland V9 pickup trucks to be exported to regional markets as well.

Mutare’s Quest Motors Manufacturing will soon be assembling the Chinese vehicle, with the first batch of equipment expected to arrive next month.

In a statement, the ambassador said the development illustrated stronger partnerships and shared development between China and Zimbabwe.

“Thrilled to have toured Quest Motors Manufacturing in Mutare. Incredibly inspired to learn that Foton’s new Tunland V9 pickup will soon be assembled here.

“With up to 500 local jobs set to be created, this project will be a major boost for skills development, value addition, and Zimbabwe’s industrial growth.

“Customers from Zimbabwe and neighboring countries may soon enjoy high-quality, affordable Foton pickups proudly assembled right here in Mutare,” he said.
