CEO Africa Roundtable hosts policy indaba in Victoria Falls

CEO Africa Roundtable Chief Economist Tatenda Nyachega says the organization’s upcoming policy indaba provides a critical platform for business leaders to deliver direct feedback to policymakers on pressing national issues.

The indaba will run from 18 to 21 March in Victoria Falls under the theme A spirit of Dialogue: Partnering for Vision 2030.

“These CEOs and strategic business leaders operate in a unique day-to-day environment when running their companies. Because of this, they face specific challenges and often develop their own ideas and solutions to address them. Creating opportunities for engagement—such as the roundtable we’re hosting in March—allows these leaders to directly interact with policymakers,” Nyachega said.

“This kind of platform is important because there can sometimes be a gap between policies designed by policymakers, based on what they believe will address economic challenges, and the realities experienced by businesses on the ground. When key stakeholders are given the opportunity to share candid feedback, policymakers can better understand the practical issues businesses face, as well as the solutions they are already exploring.”

“As a result, the policies that are developed become more informed by real-world experience. This increases the likelihood that they will be more effective, more responsive to the needs of the economy, and ultimately have a greater impact.”
