End of era as Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition folds

Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition, a conglomeration of around 80 civic society organisations in the country, has been dissolved with immediate effect.

The organisation’s annual general meeting today resolved that it was now time to bring its existence to an end.

It was originally formed in August 2001 as a collective response to what it termed “the multi faceted crisis of governance and legitimacy.”

Its lifetime was marked by numerous run-ins with the government over what the authorities deemed sponsored regime change activities.
