Agricultural seed producer Seed Co Zimbabwe hosted a vibrant Career Guidance Day today, bringing together students from primary school level through to university in an effort to nurture early awareness of career opportunities.

The event offered learners a rare, behind-the-scenes look at the diverse professions within the company, ranging from plant breeding and agronomy to marketing, finance, and logistics.

Through interactive sessions and presentations, students engaged directly with professionals who shared real-world insights about their career journeys.

Organizers emphasized that exposing young people to career possibilities at an early stage is key to helping them make informed academic and professional choices.

By bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry realities, initiatives like this aim to build confidence, spark curiosity, and encourage long-term goal setting among students.

“You are capable of more than you think. Whether you become a scientist, a business leader, a farmer, an engineer, or something completely different—the world is open to you.

“And who knows…Maybe one day, some of you will be standing here, not as students—but as leaders of Seed Co or even your own companies. We look forward to that,” Felistus Ndawi Gurajena said addressing the gathered young learners.

Educators and parents in attendance welcomed the initiative, noting that many students struggle to choose career paths due to limited exposure. Early guidance, they said, plays a crucial role in shaping ambitions and aligning talents with opportunities in the job market.

Seed Co Zimbabwe’s outreach reflects a growing recognition among companies of their role in developing future talent pipelines. As industries evolve, such engagements are increasingly important in preparing the next generation for a competitive and dynamic workforce.

Dzoka Afrika will continue to spotlight initiatives that empower young Africans through education, mentorship, and career development.
