ZimTrade launches SheTrades Zimbabwe hub

ZimTrade has officially launched the SheTrades Zimbabwe Hub, marking a significant step toward empowering women entrepreneurs to participate more meaningfully in global markets.

Speaking at the launch, ZimTrade chief executive officer Allan Majuru described the initiative as a transformative platform designed to unlock the export potential of Zimbabwean women-led businesses.

“Today, Zimbabwe turns a page and writes a bold new paragraph,” Majuru said. “It is a page written in ambition, collaboration and a shared vision of an inclusive future.”

The SheTrades Zimbabwe Hub is part of the broader International Trade Centre SheTrades initiative, which aims to connect women entrepreneurs to international markets by providing critical support services and networks.

Majuru emphasized that the hub will serve as a comprehensive support system for women exporters. “The SheTrades Zimbabwe Hub will become a home for ambition. A home for skills. A home for market intelligence, certification support, and buyer linkages. A home where no woman entrepreneur walks the export journey alone,” he said.

He added that the launch represents more than just a programme, but the start of a long-term shift in Zimbabwe’s trade landscape. “We are launching an intergenerational movement that will put Zimbabwean women at the centre of global trade.”

The initiative is expected to strengthen the country’s export base by equipping women with the tools, knowledge, and connections needed to compete internationally.

“To our women entrepreneurs, I say this: You are no longer knocking on doors. You are being handed keys. Use them boldly,” Majuru said.

He also acknowledged the role of development partners and stakeholders in bringing the initiative to life. “To our partners, thank you for believing in Zimbabwe.”

The launch underscores Zimbabwe’s commitment to inclusive trade and economic growth, ensuring that women entrepreneurs play a central role in shaping the country’s export future.
